DWM Model 1902 Luger Carbine with Matching Stock

This is a fine example of a late production DWM Model 1902 Luger carbine with its original matching numbered walnut stock. These carbines were an early attempt to a produce a light weight rifle substitute to compete on the European market. There were a total of 2500 of this model ever produced in two serial number blocks with this specific pistol being in the second block. The unique feature of these early model are the 11 3/4 inch barrel with a detachable checkered forearm, which contains a small spring actuator, that engages the lug on the underside of the barrel which helps cycle the carbine during firing, due to the heavier barrel. The top of the chamber is blank and the front toggle has the standard DWM logo. The frame is the early style with a flat mainspring, grip safety, dished toggles, and recessed/flat breech bolt. It is fitted with the correct three position rear sight (adjustable from 100-300 meters) and a ramp front sight. The full serial number (23927) is correctly marked on the frame extension, and the underside of the barrel. The last two digits of the serial number marked on the various parts. It is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips that are unnumbered with the left having a single "*" proof on the back side. It is complete with its matching shoulder stock that has a black horn buttplate. It is fitted with its original attaching iron numbered on top "927" with a set of sling swivels correctly mounted on the underside of the stock and the small forend. It also comes with one original magazine that has the unnumbered wood base with a nickel plated body.

ConditionVery fine overall with 85% of the slightly faded original blue finish remaining with minor edge and high spot wear with light wear and some thinning of the blue finish on the grip straps, side plate and side of the barrel and receiver where it was lightly rubbing on the forend. The smaller parts retain 70% of their straw colors. The forend and grips are also in very good condition showing nice distinct checkering overall with light wear across the tops of the checkering mixed with some minor light handling marks in a couple places. The left side of the forend directly in front of the checking shows slightly heavier pressure dents. The stock is also in good plus condition with nice distinct checkering showing handling marks and light wear across the tops of the checkering from light use with the sides of the stock showing minor scratches and handling marks. The right side of the shoulder stock shows some slightly more handling marks which may have been lightly cleaned or sanded, which has now been restained that now shows a slightly dark area. The attaching iron shows 90% of its blue finish. The horn buttplate shows a couple of minor chips around the edges. A nice looking all complete and all matching DWM Model 1902 Luger carbine rig.
