World War II Model 42 Stahlhelm with Desirable Field Camouflage Upgrades

Introduced as a wartime simplification of the Stahlhelm, the Model 42 eliminated the rolled lower edges in favor of a light outward flaring. While it would have originally left the factory a flat dark green, many were field-upgraded; this example received a tan paint base coat, followed by patches of brown and green, a light coating of local dirt while the paint was still wet to provide texture, and finally a simple wire harness for mounting available plants and brush to further break up the silhouette of the helmet. The lower portion of the interior has also been covered with the tan base coat, partially filling in the "66" marking in the rear and covering the markings on the side, with "Jung" added in white paint, a brown chinstrap, and tan leather webbing. Presumably a former owner or the Wehrmacht soldier who performed the paint job, no information on "Jung" was available.

ConditionVery fine, totally original overall. A few scuffs of the camo paint are present on the top, as well as wear along the lower edge, exposing some of the original paint, and some mild handling marks overall. The right ear portion of the brim shows a slightly ribbed or rolled pattern to the metal, possibly a minor error during fabrication, and the wire harness is quite solid.
