Description:

These pistols were manufactured in their own block of serial numbers from 1 to 21676 in late 1918 (this example) and early 1919. The left side of the slide is marked with two three-line blocks "PATENTED DEC. 19. 1905/FEB. 14. 1911. AUG. 19. 1913./COLT'S PT. F.A.MFG.CO." and "MANUFACTURED BY/REMINGTON ARMS U M C CO. INC./BRIDGEPORT. CONN. U.S.A." with "REMINGTON/UMC" in a circle between the two-blocks. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", with inspection marks "E.E.C." and eagle head over "E28" above the magazine release. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911/U.S. ARMY CALIBER .45". The barrel is blue with a "P" stamped on the chamber, and there is the letter "E" stamped on the back of the slide above the hammer slot. Flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop on the butt, unmarked two tone magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with the diamond pattern around the screw.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine. The pistol retains 85% plus original dark military blue finish with the balance a mix of smooth gray patina and thin original blue finish. There are a number of minor dings on the front strap, and overall some minor scratches and edge wear. The grips are excellent with some mild wear on the sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. One will look a long time to find a finer example of a Remington UMC Model 1911 pistol!
