Description:

This is an early example of one of the most popular rifles in history and is in its most iconic configuration: a Winchester Model 1894 rifle in .30-30 Winchester Centerfire. More deer have been taken with .30-30 '94s than any other rifle in American history. The included records sheet from the Cody Firearms Museum states that this rifle was marked with its serial number on November 17, 1896. It was received in the Winchester warehouse on New Year's Eve as a rifle in .30 caliber with a round barrel and plain trigger and then shipped as part of order number 1122 on January 4, 1897. It has a German silver blade front sight, notch rear sight with folding leaves (100, 200, and 300 yards), standard markings, and smooth stock and forearm with standard rifle buttplate and forend cap.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The rifle retains 60% of the original blue finish and has strong and vibrant case colors on the lever and more subdued case colors on the hammer. The faded areas have primarily brown and gray patina, and there is some light oxidation and a few spots of mild pitting. The wood is fine and has mostly smooth surfaces and some light scratches and pressure marks. The action functions fine, and the markings are crisp.
