Description:

Dovetailed brass blade front and adjustable rear sights. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked "G.P. FOSTER TAUNTON/MASS" and "KLEINS PATENT/NOV. 1849/NEW YORK behind the rear sight. There is light scroll engraving on the receiver, as well as the serial number "194". There is a lever mounted on the left rear of the receiver. When the lever is released the rear internal portion of the bolt slides back which also releases the bolt, which pulls up and back for loading. After the rifle is loaded and the bolt is closed, the rear portion needs to be pushed forward and locked into place. Both pieces of the bolt assembly are numbered "251". Light scroll engraving also adorns the pistol grip style trigger guard and lower tang. The barrel gauges at 41 caliber. The metal surfaces appear to have been finished blue and is mounted with a wedge secured walnut half stock with a cheek piece, checkered straight grip area and a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have a brown patina with a very small amount of light spotting and pitting on the breech end of the barrel. The stock is also very good with a few minor gouges, dents and scratches. The engraving and markings are clear. The action functions well.
