This is a exceptionally early example of one of a Nazi proofed Military Zero Series P38 pistol. This pistol is one of approximately 965 first issue pistols (based on the known serial numbers) that has these early, early features such as the rectangular firing pin, concealed extractor and lightning cuts on the underside of the barrel lug. The Zero Series was the first true German military P38 pistols manufactured for the German Army. The left side of the slide has the early markings that consist of the "Walther Banner" followed by "P.38" and the serial number (059). The right side of the slide is marked with a single Eagle firing proof, flanked by two "Eagle/359" Waffenamt acceptance proofs. The "Eagle/359" proof is also marked on the left side of the frame, takedown lever, slide stop lever, hammer, trigger, right side of the barrel lug and the rear of the firing pin cover, just in front of the rear sight. The locking block is numbered "59" and has the "Eagle/359" proof on the right side with the Eagle firing proof on the left. The left side of the barrel lug is marked with the bore dimension "8,84" with the right side stamped with an Eagle/359 Waffenamt with a single early Nazi Eagle firing proof on the left rear side of the lug. This excellent pistol is fitted with an early Zero Series blue magazine that is correctly numbered on the side "059" and has a single "Eagle/359" acceptance proof on the lower spine. It has the early beautiful high polish commercial blue finish and the black checkered "hollow back" plastic grips that are correctly stamped with serial number "59" over a single Eagle/359 Waffenamt proof.

Excellent with 98% plus of the original early high polish blued finish overall with a hint of holster and slide retraction wear. A few specks of surface rust are visible forward of the safety on the left side of slide. The grips are in excellent condition. Mechanically excellent.. The markings and various proofs are clear and sharp. An exceptional First Issue Zero Series Walther P-38 pistol.
