Description:

This is a very fine example of an early production 1914 Dated Erfurt Artillery Luger pistol. The chamber area is dated 1914 (desirable first year production!) with the front toggle stamped with the "Crown/ERFURT" marking. The barrel extension has the "Crown/Gothic" letter proofs and Imperial Eagle firing proof, with the firing proof and "Crown/Script" letter proofs, also repeated on the sides of the breech block and rear end of the barrel. Many of the various smaller parts are also stamped with the small Crown/Erfurt proofs that consist of either a "Crown/RC" or a single "Crown/Gothic" letter proofmark. This example is fitted with the correct Artillery tangent rear sight graduated to 1-8, (100-800 meters) and both sights are fitted with the fine-tune adjustments. It is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips This Luger is complete with one nickel plated, wooden base magazine that is stamped on the base with a double "Crown/Script Letter Proof" over "3330".

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the slightly faded original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with blue loss on the side plate hump, muzzle, front frame rails with the center section of the barrel showing considerable light, very small spotting mixed with some light scratches. The smaller parts retain 50% of their original straw colors overall. The grips are in very fine condition overall with nice distinct checkering with just very minor handling marks and nicks in a couple areas. Mechanically excellent.
