This rifle was manufactured in 1889-90 and has subsequently been beautifully custom engraved and gold inlaid most likely late in the 20th Century. It is signed "Joseph Cody, Wy" on the bottom of the action on the left. The barrel has a German silver front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, standard Winchester markings, gold floral accents at the muzzle and transition point, and a golden braid at the breech. The action has golden braid borders and accents, deep floral scroll engraving, and has a woodland scene with two rabbits on the right, and two wolves in a woodland scene on the left. The lever and hammer have coordinating patterns. It is mounted with a high grade stock and forearm with attractive burl figure, checkering, and an ebony forend insert.
