Manufactured in 1944 near the conclusion of World War II, this is a solid representative example of a refurbished U.S. Winchester M1 Gassed Rifle. This rifle features fixed blade front and elevation and windage adjustable rear peep sights with a locking bar on the windage knob. The trigger guard, operating rod, trigger group, and hammer are all marked with the "W.R.A" Winchester marking. Mounted with a smooth oil finished pistol grip stock and handguard set marked with a boxed "WRA/GHD" and crossed cannon inspection stamp on the left side above the trigger guard and a single circled "P" in the grip area.

Fine as arsenal refurbished, thin subsequently restored back to World War II specification with 80% of the slightly faded gray/green wartime parkerized finish. Showing some areas of light edge wear and general handling marks. The reoiled wood is very good with small scratches and indentations throughout, legible markings, general handling marks, and a slight offset to the "P" proofmark on the grip. Mechanically excellent.
