Attractive Winchester Model 1887 Lever Action Shotgun in 12 Gauge

This Model 1887 was manufactured in 1888. The only marking on the barrel is an oval "WP" stamp on the left side (not the intertwined WP proof). The barrel has a single bead front sight. The left side of the receiver has the Winchester monogram logo. The bottom of the receiver at the front has the serial number, and the lower tang is marked with the Winchester address and patent information in four lines. It is equipped with a smooth semi-pistol grip stock and forend slabs and a checkered steel buttplate. The magazine currently has a rod to limit the capacity. The barrel has a full choke, and it is chambered for 2 5/8 inch black powder shells. The length of pull is 12 3/4 inches.

Rating definitionVery fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 80% of the original blue finish with some fading, rub wear, and slight pitting. The receiver and lever retain 40% of the original case colors with some light spotting. The wood is fine with some scrapes and pressure marks and mild wear on the butt. The action is excellent.
