Only about 3,500 of these were made from 1880-1911. Named for a well known pistol shooter of the era, and enjoyed a great deal of popularity during its production. Marked with the later two-line "J. STEVENS A&T" address/patent on the upper left flat of the barrel. Fitted with a fixed front blade and fully adjustable rear notch sights. The barrel is blued; the frame, trigger guard and buttcap are nickel plated; and the trigger, hammer, and rear sight are niter blue. The trigger guard has the distinctive finger hook. The grips are finely checkered.

Very good with 85% plus original finish. Showing some areas of light edge and muzzle wear, light surface scratches, general handling marks, and a few small dings and nicks. The grip frame shows general handling marks with some areas of flaked off nickel on the butt exposing the iron frame. The grips are very good with general handling marks and well defined checkering. The sight elevation screw is missing. Mechanically very good.
