Manufactured in 1896. This rifle features a Lyman beaded blade front sight, rear two-leaf sporting notch sight, and an adjustable tang mounted Lyman peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address in front of the rear sight, "-NICKEL STEEL BARREL-/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" is marked behind the rear sight on the left barrel flat with "30 W.C.F." at the breech. The serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Full length magazine with a casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate. Mounted on a smooth walnut forearm with metal forend cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
Fine as partially refinished (wood). The balance of rifle retains 75% plus of the original blue with scattered scratches and light pitting with some minor wear at the muzzle. The case colors remain 70% intact. The receiver has some high edge wear and the takedown collar is slightly faded to a smooth brown patina. The revarnished forearm is very good with scattered scratches, dings and minor varnish loss on the forearm. The buttstock is very fine. One mounting screw on the peep sight is absent. Mechanically fine.
