Collector's Lot of Two Civil War Ames Model 1860 Naval Cutlasses with Leather Scabbards

Both swords are 32 inches overall, with 26 inch curved single fuller blades with "U.S.N./D.R" inspection marks and the Ames "scroll" logo on the ricasso, brass hilt with a leather-wrapped grip, and a brown leather scabbard with brass frog stud and brass and copper rivets. 1) Ames sword, dated "1862", with "17M/788" on the guard. 2) Ames sword, dated "186(illegible)", with "18M/991" on the guard.

ConditionBoth are very good overall, with spotting on the blades, a loss of wire wrap on the grips, verdigris buildup and a mixed patina on the brass and cracking and scuffing of the otherwise good leather.
