Description:

Named for their association with America's airborne units, the U.S. M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine was solely made by the Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors in two identified serial number blocks, with this one in the second block (May 1944-January 1945). "N" marked blade front and unmarked adjustable rear sights, with an Inland barrel dated "9-44", a Type II barrel band, round bolt, milled trigger guard, smooth button safety and a "HI" magazine catch. The stock is the low wood pattern with a "slim jim" pistol grip bearing the "crossed cannon" stamp on the right side and "RI/3" on the underside, brown leather cheekpad with steel rivets and an oiler, and the spring-loaded buttplate with proper casting numbers on the interior. One "UI" marked magazine is included with the carbine along with a green canvas sling and a green canvas belt case marked "CARTER BROS. INC./1944" inside the flap.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% of the original parkerized finish, showing some light slide retraction wear and handling marks overall. The stock is fine, with a protective coat of varnish applied, some scattered dings from the folding metal buttstock, a vertical crack in the left side at the hinge as well and some other handling marks. The excellent case shows some light wear and stains. Mechanically excellent.
