Manufactured from 1955 to 1964 with a heavy barrel and equipped with a Redfield Olympic Model globe front sight and receiver mounted Redfield International Match peep sight. The left side of the receiver ring is marked "U.S./22 LONG RIFLE" over the serial number and the left receiver wall is marked "Remington/MODEL 40-X". The right rear side of the barrel is marked with the typical Remington barrel proofs. The barrel is fitted with a scope block 6 inches forward of the breech and the front and rear receiver rings are also drilled and tapped with filler screws in the front and a scope base mounted on the rear. Adjustable serrated trigger and mounted with the standard heavy pistol grip walnut target-style stock with the accessory rail and hand stop, cut out at the front of the comb, sling swivels and a black rubber "WHITE LINE" marked buttplate.

Very fine. The barrel and receiver have 97% original blue finish with scattered light handling marks and small nicks. The wood is very good with a big gouge on the left side of the stock at the rear of the receiver, otherwise light handling marks, and some small indentations. Mechanically excellent.
