An excellent example of a pre-war commercial rifle manufactured by the Mauser rifle company for the government of Peru. Blade front and "ski ramp" tangent rear sights, with the receiver marked "REPUBLICA DEL PERU/(national crest)/MAUSER ORIGINAL" on top and "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER-OBERNDORF a/n/MODELO 1909". Matching numbers are present overall, except on some unnumbered minor components. Smooth pistol grip stock, with the conjoined "M/W" on the wrist, Mauser banner on the right side, and a flat steel buttplate. With a Simson & Company bayonet (25 3/4" OAL, 20 5/8" quillback blade, ribbed wood grips) and a mixed numbered leather sheath.

Excellent, with 90% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown and gray patina on the barrel bands and mild handling marks. The receiver and bolt show some light spotting. The stock is very fine, with a number of dings, dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
