Manufactured circa 1915-1917, these Lugers were produced in England for military export to the Netherlands. While neutral in the First World War, many of these pistols saw hard use at sea with the Royal Netherlands Navy, which continued to fight on in World War II even after the loss of their home ports to the Germans and their East Indies bases to the Japanese. Fixed sights, with the "VICKERS/LTD" marking on the toggle link, "RUST" safety mark on the frame, and "GELADEN" on the extractor. A brass plate marked "4-Inf.IX/21." is installed on the side of the frame, and a "SIMSON LTD" import mark on the underside of the trigger guard. London "GP", "V" and "NP" proofs are present on many components, with the "crown/W" acceptance stamp on the extension. Fitted with a pair of checkered grips and a nickel finished wood base magazine.
