Description:

1) "Fliegermetze" pattern visorless field cap. Blue/gray wool construction, with a line of pink (panzer) waffenfarbe trim around the crown, a white-on-gray Luftwaffe eagle patch, and a machine embroidered "poofy"/"bevo" cockade on the front. The interior is lined in blue cloth, with a faint ink-stamped size marking (possibly "56") on the right. 2) Button-in collar, non-reversible gray and white construction, with "Liebender/O.snf.VV" and "45 46" in blue ink on the interior. 3) Fine uniform set for a Luftwaffe Anti-Tank Feldwebel, Spanish Civil War and African Front Veteran- Both the combat trousers and tunic are constructed from dark blue-gray felt, with the tunic bearing a Luftwaffe eagle on the right breast, a set of "triple eagle" alloy-ornamented green collar tabs, with silver ribbon and green piping about the collar, a set of pink waffenfarbe trimmed feldwebel (staff sergeant) shoulder boards, an Iron Cross Second Class ribbon in the second buttonhole, and a 5-piece ribbon bar. The bar features the Eastern Front Medal, Luftwaffe Long Service Medal, Sudetenland Medal, Spanish Civil War Campaign Medal and the Italian-German African Campaign Medal. In total, the decorations indicate a career non-commissioned officer in a Luftwaffe Field Division (a ground combat unit staffed with Luftwaffe personnel), having seen action in the Spanish Civil War with Legion Condor, participated in the Occupation of the Sudetenland, the North Africa Campaign and the Eastern Front. The interior of the tunic is lined in herringbone twill, with a set of internal hooks and the black ink stamp "LBA 15138" over the size markings "44 45/98/73 66" inside the left breast. The trousers are lined in white twill, with the ink stamp "Stolper & Co./Breslau" inside the waistband. Formerly of the George Petersen Collection. 4) Fine Uniform Set for a Luftwaffe Anti-Tank Feldwebel- Both the combat trousers and tunic are constructed from dark blue-gray felt. The tunic is in the "two-pocket, concealed button hole" configuration, with a zig-zag stitched Luftwaffe eagle on the right breast, a set of "triple eagle" alloy-ornamented pink-trimmed green collar tabs, with silver ribbon about the collar, a set of pink waffenfarbe trimmed feldwebel (staff sergeant) shoulder boards, and a set of Eastern Front and Iron Cross Second Class ribbons stitched in the vicinity of the second buttonhole. The color and configuration of the collar tabs indicates an NCO in a Luftwaffe field division (a ground combat unit staffed with Luftwaffe personnel), which saw service against the Soviet Union. The interior of the tunic is partially lined in blue rayon, with the internal left breast pocket ink stamped "RBr.Nr.0/0348/0013" and "LBAS.44" around the size marking of "41 45/96/63 61". The pants are "riding breech" style, with a white cloth liner inside the waistband stamped "RBNr.0/0456/0073" and "LBA 3 43" over the size marking "72 82/105 98".

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, with some minor stains and handling marks. The waffenfarbe on the cap is a bit faded, and the African Front NCO uniform show a few small areas of moth damage. A fabulous time capsule of Panzer/Panzerjaeger gear.
