Description:

The overall construction of this cap is dark green cloth with a black velvet band, white piping, and a cloth SS eagle and alloy totenkopf badges on the front. The visor is black leather, with the interior lined in plain brown cloth with a rubberized crown and sweatband. A detached black leather chinstrap is included, with a set of steel mounting brads; this would be appropriate for the "old style" caps, as they did not come with chinstraps or chinstrap buttons as integral components. Period photographs show similar modification, both for mounting utilitarian leather chinstraps like this one as well as more fancy officer-style braided cords. Attributed by the consignor to the collection of Mike Beaver.

Rating Definition:

The exterior of the cap is very good, with mild wear and stains. The chinstrap is cracked and torn, and the interior shows heavy wear.
