Description:

1) Lightweight tropical-style field cap, green herringbone twill construction with machine embroidered green cloth eagle and cockade patches on the front, the latter enclosed by a triangular black waffenfarbe "soutache". The black waffenfarbe traditionally indicates a "pioniere", a combat engineer. The interior is lined in brown cloth, with a black ink "58" size marking. The early field cap pattern and the herringbone twill cloth are a rare combination, with this being the only one we've seen. 2) Field satchel, constructed from near-identical green herringbone twill cloth with alloy buttons, steel suspension rings, and leather hardware. Faint hand markings are present on one of the belt loops, otherwise the item is unmarked. Consignor notes attribute both items as a set of war trophies taken together in Italy during World War II.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with some light wear and handling marks. 2) Good. A few holes in the sides, back and bottom have been stitched together, with some mild wear overall.
