Description:

Kalashnikov is a name that is synonymous with pioneering, innovation, and forward thinking in the world of small arms development. Born in 1919, he was conscripted into the Red Army in 1938 where he served as a tank mechanic in the 24th Tank Regiment of the 108th Tank Division. A self styled tinkerer, Kalashnikov began his career of inventing during his early military training, submitting his first design for a submachine gun in 1942, and designing a gas operated carbine in 1944. These designs culminated in the now iconic AK-47 in 1947 which changed the face of arms design for the decades to come and spawned numerous copies around the world. Standard post front and adjustable tangent rear sights and standard receiver markings. Hardwood forend, checkered grip, and buttstock. The right side of the buttstock bears the signature "M. Kalashnikov" in silver paint marker. With original box, two extra magazines, bayonet with sheath, and canvas web sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 97% original blue finish remains with some scattered light handling marks and some small surface scratches. The wood is good with small scattered dings, and a 5/8 inch chip absent at the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. Box is good with handling and storage wear. A rare opportunity to own a semi-automatic AK47 signed by the legendary inventor himself.
