Manufactured in 1898. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with a half octagon, 24 inch no. 2 barrel in .22 Short, plain trigger (currently set trigger) and plain pistol grip stock when received in the warehouse on November 23, 1898, and shipped the same day. Combination Beach front sight, filler block in the rear sight dovetail slot, tang sight, and two-line address and "22 SHORT" stamped the top barrel flat. Mounted on a nicely figured forearm and pistol grip stock with hard rubber factory grip cap and brass Swiss buttplate which is not mentioned in the factory letter.
