This pair of Turkish flintlock blunderbuss holster pistols has gold accents and elaborate wire inlaid full length stock and was manufactured circa 1800. This elaborate pair was most likely made for a "chieftan" or other high ranking individual. The Damascus barrel has a flared muzzle with a 1 1/8 inch opening. The barrel has a gold accented floral type pattern incorporating gold accented bands at the muzzle, at the breech, and near the mid-point. The wide single barrel band is an ornate twisted wire scroll construction with studs and is inlaid with two semi-precious stones. The engraved lock plate has gold accents with an unidentified gold accented marking. The hammer has an engraved star pattern. The upper vice jaw has gold accents. Fully gold plated upper tang. The trigger guard, ramrod pipes, buttcap, side plate and thumb escutcheon are German silver. Chiseled military/patriotic motif on the side plate, thumb escutcheon, bottom of grip cap, and trigger guard finial. The trigger guard and buttcap also have a crescent moon and star engraved pattern. The full length stock has an elaborate, well executed wire inlaid pattern, which consists mostly of a scroll pattern.

Very fine. The barrel retains most of the Damascus pattern with a smooth brown patina. The hammer and lock plate have a smooth brown-gray patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth aged brass patina. The stock is fine with a repair in the grip area, a small area of chipping near the lock plate, and a few minor handling marks. Most of the wire inlay and gold accents remain. Mechanically excellent.
