The rifle and accompanying items are attributed to Sergeant Theodore E.C. Vesper. Some of the items are marked with his name and various dates. The rifle is a Model 1892 Type II rifle that has been updated to match the later pattern rifles and fitted with a Model 1902 rear sight. The receiver is dated "1894," and the left side of the stock has a "J." The bayonet is dated "1897" and has a blued scabbard with hanger.
