This is a WWII K98 rifle manufactured by the Mauser factory in 1944, that has been modified/assembled into a German high turret type sniper rifle that is fitted with a "bmj" marked sniper scope. The turret mounted sniper rifles were used from 1939 through 1945 and were one of the most used rifles during WWII. The barrel is dated "1944", which probably indicates this rifle has a "byf/44" marked receiver ring. The left side of the receiver has a single "Eagle 135" acceptance proof with left side of both the receiver and barrel having a large a single "Eagle". The receiver side wall marked with the block style "Mod. 98" markings. The left rear reproduction scope base is stamped with a single "Eagle/135" proof with a very small circled, letter "R" stamped on the front base. The rifle is fitted with a standard wartime, laminated handguard and stock that is fitted with a reproduction checkered cupped buttplate. The right side of the buttstock and pistol grip is stamped with a "Eagle/WaA135" Waffenamt proofmark. The rifle has all stamped components to include the barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate and it has a matching bolt that is fitted with a reproduction key safety. The various components are all unnumbered except the floorplate that has been stamped with the matching serial number. The rifle itself has a standard front sight with the military style tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. This rifle is fitted with a correct wartime blued, "bmj" marked sniper scope. The left side of the tube is marked "DIALYTAN 4x/77301/bmj". The elevation ring is numbered 1-8 (100-800 meters) and it has the early short rain shield on the front end. This rifle is complete with the front sight cover, rubber muzzle cover, cleaning rod and a reproduction WWII brown leather sling.

Very good as upgraded into a sniper with 80% of the blued finish overall showing light wear overall with the trigger guard, floor plate and trigger guard bow having browned out somewhat. The refinished stock and handguard are both in good condition with a nice matching color overall having been lightly sanded on the sides of the buttstock with some larger age cracks towards the rear on the sides in front of the buttplate. The scope and rings retains 90% of the blue finish overall with clear markings showing some areas of light pitting under the blue. The optics are clear.
