Description:

Produced for import into the United States, this Model 1906 American Eagle Luger is fitted with a pair of Ideal grips. Developed before the introduction of the integral back strap stock lug on the Model 1908, the Ideal grips consist of smooth walnut panels secured to metal base plates which are slotted on the rear to accept a set of mounting hooks for Ideal's combination holster and telescoping metal shoulder stock. When DWM introduced their own "board stock" arrangement, the Ideal quickly went out of style. Blade front and notch rear sights with the American Eagle on the chamber, "DWM" monogram on the toggle, and "GERMANY" import mark on the front of the frame. The pistol is numbered in the "commercial style" with (sans magazine) matching external numbers, fitted with niter blue and straw color small parts, "LOADED" extractor, polished "safe" position, a back strap grip safety, the aforementioned grips and a nickel finished magazine with an unmarked hardwood base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 80% plus of the original blue finish, showing some light dings around the frame rails and magazine well, a horizontal patches of pitting on the right side of the barrel, and scattered edge wear and handling marks. The grips are fine, with some scratches, dents and evidence of sanding on the left panel. Mechanically excellent.
