Description:

This is an outstanding example of a totally original DWM Model 1906 Commercial Navy Luger complete with its original matching serialized Navy board stock and correct 1906 Navy pattern commercial leather holster. These Commercial Navy Lugers are fairly scarce as only approximately 2500 were manufactured in total as compared to the Imperial German Navy issue counterparts. As noted, this exceptional Luger comes with its original and correct, matching Navy pattern board stock. The stock was manufactured from a nicely figured piece of walnut with the blued stock lug correctly numbered "54023" on top. It carries no proof marks or unit ID disc which is correct for a commercial Luger stock. This rig is also accompanied with an original 1906 pattern black Navy commercial holster. It is unmarked and has the double loops on that reverse for the shoulder straps (which are not included). The top of the chamber area is blank, and the front toggle is marked with the standard DWM logo. It still retains its original 6 inch Navy length barrel and the correct two position (100 and 200) Navy type rear sight and grip safety. The left side of the barrel extension, barrel and breech block are stamped with only the late style "Crown/N" commercial proofs, with no other proofs. The upper left area of the frame has the 2nd pattern extractor marking of "GESICHERT" in the lower position, with the properly marked "GELADEN" extractor. The pistol itself is properly numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number (54023) on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel and the last two digits (23) stamped on the various other parts. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered checkered walnut grips. It is comes a tin plated magazine Navy type wooden base with the concentric circles on the side of the base, which is stamped in script "Cal/9m/m". Also included with this wonderful Navy rig is an unmarked takedown tool and all brass cleaning rod with the blued steel oiler handle.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the original blued finish overall showing only a hint of edge wear with the smaller parts retaining 95% of their attractive bright original straw colors overall with light wear on some parts. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct, sharp checkering overall. The stock is also in excellent condition with 95% of the original blued finish on the stock lug with only some very minor handling marks on the one side. The holster is in fine condition with a supple leather, solid stitching, light age cracking overall, and slightly more cracking on the hinge area of the flap. This is quite possibly the finest DWM Model 1906 Commercial Navy Luger rig we have offered at auction!
