Langley/Luton. No. 1403" with bright gold inlay. The receiver and lock plates have full coverage engraving with detailed game bird scenes, Scott patent "Crystal Indicators", side clips, sculpted fences, standard markings and proofs on the water table, dual triggers, and automatic tang safety. Checkered splinter forearm with horn tip insert, engraved fittings, push button release, and pistol grip stock with tear drop flats, and serrated horn buttplate. The top of the stock wrist is inset with a gold shield inscribed with the Lawson family crest of two arms holding a sun over the letters "COPT". Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .741/.741 inch; minimum wall thickness .024/.023 inch; drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 3/8 inches; length of pull 13 1/2 inches.

Fine as professionally restored. 98% of the blue finish remains with some traces of light pitting under the blue, small nicks and surface scratches, and clear markings. The receiver and locks have an overall gray patina with fine engraving, some small dings, and light spotting on the lower tang. The wood is fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled with small dings, well defined checkering, and attractive figure. Mechanically very good.
