This is an outstanding example of a very desirable early production Mauser Model 1896 Cone Hammer semi-automatic pistol that is complete with an original matching combination walnut shoulder stock/holster. This model became the final frame configuration for the standard 1896 pattern throughout production. This beautiful pistol has the early long extractor, milled panel frame with the raised rear panel on the left side, with the dovetailed firing pin retainer, early wide trigger, and non-reinforced chamber area. The right side of the barrel extension has the early Mauser antler firing proof, and the left side has the "double crown/U" proofs. The chamber is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N". It has the military style adjustable rear sight marked 50-500 meters with the fixed front sight. It has the standard late pattern 23-groove walnut grips, both correctly numbered on the back sides. This pistol is complete with the lanyard ring stud and ring on the butt and its original matching combination wooden shoulder stock/holster. The attaching iron is stamped "8466" on top.

Excellent with 97% plus of the original blue finish with a hint of edge and high spot wear with some actual blue loss on the front edges of the frame rails and center area of the rear grip strap where the stock was attached. A spot of pitting is visible on the butt at the ring base. The stock is in very fine condition with a nice medium color european walnut showing only minor light scratches and a horizontal hairline crack visible on the left side forward of the hinge. The attaching iron retains 85% of its original niter blue finish. Mechanically excellent. A superb example of an early Mauser Model 1896 Cone Hammer pistol.
