Description:

This is a very fine example of a late production Mauser model 1896 six-shot pistol with the bolo style frame. The top of the chamber area is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF, A/N," and the right rear side of the frame is marked with "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A.NECKAR". The left side of the chamber/barrel area (as well as the rear of the frame and frame lock) have the serial number with a single "Crown/U" proof on the lower side. The barrel has the late style banded, inverted "v" type front sight with a adjustable tangent rear sight that is graduated to 50-1000 meters. The bolo frame is correctly slotted on the back strap, and it is fitted with a set of non-matching walnut grips with 27 grooves on each side. The butt of the frame has the lanyard stud and ring. The underside of the barrel is stamped with: "A/stylized lazy M/B" proofs. It has an arsenal type refurbished blue finish with the heat blued and straw colored small parts.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the professionally restored blued finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct grooves on the sides showing some very minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A nice example of an early six-shot, bolo frame, small ring, commercial Mauser pistol.
