Description:

Originally manufactured about 1916-1918 as a military contract "Red Nine" Broomhandle, this pistol was subject to post-WWI overhaul, and also bears a small Norwegian "Lion" stamp on the left side of the receiver. The exact chain of events is not documented, but it is possible that the pistol was a World War I weapon, arsenal-shortened after the war to comply with the Versailles Treaty, wound up in Norwegian hands (either given to them as an occupation force weapon, or confiscated by them during their liberation), and later released for public sale as obsolete. Blade front and dovetailed fixed notch rear sights, with the original rear sight hardware milled down, "crown/crown/U" on the left side of the chamber, "eagle/Su4" (associated with post-WWI work at Spandau Arsenal) on the right, and the two line Oberndorf address on the frame. The mismatched barrel extension and chamber are numbered "132426", with the other externally numbered parts matching the frame. A pair of matching numbered grips with branded and filled red "9" markings are installed. With a brown pigskin holster marked "R.LARSEN/BERLIN/1925" inside the flap.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal overhauled and assembled, with 60% of the blue finish, showing areas of brown and gray patina, mild spotting, bright edge wear and scattered dings and handling marks. The grips are good, with some small chips and stains, and the holster shows some light scuffs and cracks. The hammer hangs up slightly when cocked, otherwise mechanically very good. The holster is fine.
