Manufactured in 1891 as a Third Model 1873 musket with a dust cover guide rail integral to the top of the receiver and dust cover featuring serrated finger grips on the rear. Front sight has a base that serves as a bayonet lug, and the rear sight is a folding ladder. The barrel has the two-line address/patent dates marking and "44 CAL." The cartridge elevator is marked "44 CAL." The upper tang has the model marking. The straight grip stock has a buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Fine, retaining 30% plus original blue finish (mostly on the receiver) with the balance a smooth brown patina mixed with some mild-minor spotting and limited pitting. 40% original niter blue remains on the loading gate. The wood is very good with some surface chipping and extensive minor-moderate dings and scratches (heavier on the right side of the buttstock). Mechanically excellent.
