Winchester Model 94 Cowboy Commemorative Lever Action Carbine Presented to Former Publisher of the Denver Post, Palmer Hoyt

Manufactured in 1970 with the standard markings and features along with a brass plaque in the left side of the buttstock marked "PRESENTED TO/PALMER HOYT/BY/YOUR FRIENDS AT/WINCHESTER-WESTERN/AUGUST, 1970". Palmer Hoyt was the publisher of the Denver Post from 1946 until his retirement in 1971 and is credited with ending the paper's stint of "yellow journalism" and moving it back towards objective reporting, which he always stressed, along with the importance of free speech. It is likely that this rifle was presented to him in 1970 upon announcement of his imminent retirement. Includes styrofoam box with factory label hand numbered to gun.

Rating definitionExcellent overall, retains 99% plus original finishes with a few light handling marks on the stock. Mechanically excellent.
