This rifle is an example of a serviceman's target or Wehrmannsgewehr rifle. Blade front and ski-ramp tangent rear sights, with the receiver ring marked "ORIGINAL/HAENEL-LORENZ" over a "H" logo, with a set of "crown/letter" proofmarks. Multiple components are numbered "72" or "572", with some (including the receiver and barrel) concealed by the stock. The magazine assembly is properly absent, with the stock solid in the region. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a flat buttplate.
Very fine, showing 95% plus blue, with some bright wear around the muzzle and front sight, a mixed gray patina on the rear sight base and bolt, and some light handling marks overall. The refinished stock has been mended between the barrel bands, with the original front section being a near-perfect match in color and grain, with some scuffs and dents overall. (This is commonly referred to by collectors as a "GI Duffle Bag Cut"). Mechanically excellent.
