Manufactured from 1878 to 1882 as one of only several hundred believed to have been produced. The barrel is marked with the one-line Hopkins & Allen address and "XL NAVY/38-100 CAL" on the top strap. Generally classed as a secondary military arm, however, no evidence of government purchase is known.
Excellent, retaining 98% bright original nickel finish, minor handling evidence, faint cylinder drag line, and a few tiny spots of oxidation. The grips are fine with small chips at both toes. Mechanically excellent.
