Description:

Likely actually a product of Bacon Arms Co. sold under U.S. Arms Co. as a trade name in the 1870s. Relatively few engraved examples are known. The revolver has extensive engraving consisting primarily of traditional floral acanthus scroll patterns with punched backgrounds,, a rounded blade front sight, "U.S. ARMS CO. N.Y." on top of the barrel, "No 38" on the top strap, and matching serial numbers, including the grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus original nickel plating, 90% plus vibrant original case colors on the hammer, crisp engraving, some minor oxidation, and generally only light handling and storage wear. The grips are very fine aside from a chip on the upper right at one of the frame pins and have attractive natural coloration and grain and minor age/tension cracks at the screw washer and nut.. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
