Eugene Young Engraved and Gold Plated Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action Revolver with Pearl Grips and Factory Letter

The accompanying factory letter states this revolver was shipped on January 5, 1900 and delivered to M.W. Robinson Co. of New York City. This was a single gun shipment and unfortunately no invoice is available for the details of the revolver. In the letter S&W historian Roy Jinks attributes the engraving to Eugene Young, son of Gustave Young, himself also a S&W master engraver. The revolver is decorated with Eugene Young's delicate floral vine and leaf scrollwork patterns. The embellishment covers 80% of the surfaces. The barrel rib has the one-line address. Fitted with S&W gold medallion pearl grips. The barrel, frame and cylinder are plated in gold. The hammer and trigger guard are casehardened. The barrel latch is blued. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, both grip panels, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch. Provenance: The Dr. Gerald Klaz Collection

ConditionExcellent, retaining 90% original gold plating with flaking on the balance. The hammer and trigger guard retain 70% original case colors. The grips are also excellent with very minimal handling marks and highly attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent. A high condition Eugene Young factory engraved and gold plated New Model No. 3 that will add beauty to any S&W or firearms art collection.
