This is a very scarce and desirable limited production copy of an original WWII German MP43/44 Sturmgewehr assault rifle, manufactured in semi-automatic. These are current new manufactured rifles made in Germany circa 2012 by Sport-System Dittrich and imported by the PTR Company of Farmington, CT. They appear to have a correct stamped and welded receiver and heat shield with a machined bolt and bolt carrier assembly. It is believed that only approximately 200 were ever actually imported into the U.S., due to the limitation on production and importing rifles back then. They are marked on the right side: "MADE IN GERMANY BY SSD for PTR-91 Inc. Farmington, Connecticut USA". The left side of the magazine well is stamped with serial number. The upper left side is also stamped "PTR44". These are a faithful copy of a WWII weapon that has the same outward appearance, weight, and feel as an original WWII MP-44. Interestingly, it even has a ZF4 sniper scope base spot welded on the right upper side just like some of the original MP-44s. The front right side of the barrel is stamped "7,92 x 33 k". They have an all blued, nicely polished metal finish with a walnut buttstock and grip panels. Includes two magazine pouches, six extra magazines, and a 2010 issue of Shotgun News featuring the PTR 44 as the cover story.
Excellent overall, with some small spots of light oxidation, and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Magazine pouches are very good with a few minor handling marks and a few small cracks near the fastening rivets. Magazines are all excellent with minimal minor handling and storage marks.
