Description:

Only 4,213 Hall Model 1841 percussion rifles were manufactured in 1841 and 1842. Most of the relatively short production run utilized the "fishtail" breech lever, which is also found on the Model 1840 Type II Hall carbines, unlike this transitional example which has the early spur style breech lever. It has blade and notch sights, brown lacquer finished iron hardware, casehardened breech block marked "H. FERRY/US/1841", and a button head ramrod. "GDM" (George D. Moller) collection initials marked at the toe of the stock. Includes socket bayonet and period leather sling. Provenance: The George Moller Collection

Rating Definition:

Good with smooth gray and brown patina, mild pitting mostly concentrated on the receiver, and defined breech block markings. Stock is very good with some light scratches and dents, some chipped/absent sections on the right side of the forend, a repaired chip at the right rear of the receiver, a crack ahead of the buttplate tang, and some chips at the toe. Mechanically excellent. Included bayonet is fine with scattered light pitting, sling is very good with some light age related wear and cracking.
