This unsigned painting shows the hilltop view from an unknown Caribbean location as ships sail into a bay. The front ship appears to be a steam wheel vessel of some sort while the others are traditional sailing vessels. The ship in the middle also appears to be flying the earliest flag of the United States. The banks of the bay have several fortifications, one of which can be seen firing upon the ships. On the hilltop in the foreground is three people observing the battle. To the right can be seen a man on horseback with a rifle. Across the bay is more hilltops and a clear blue sky. The painting is housed in a plain wooden frame. Frame and painting measures 24 inches by 30 inches.
Fine, with crazing of the image and handling marks on the frame.
