Manufactured in 1885 to 1891. The barrel is marked "38-55" at the breech and is fitted with a Lyman 5A telescopic sight mounted on period installed blocks and a front sight base (sight absent). The action is marked with the two-line Marlin/Ballard patent marking and has double set triggers and a mid-range Vernier tang sight. The forearm and pistol grip stock are checkered. The buttstock has a cheekpiece and nickel plated Swiss buttplate. The No. 10 was an overall heavier variant of the Union Hill. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 80% original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. The receiver, hammer, breech block and lever retain 80% original case colors. The buttplate retains 98% period nickel plating. The wood is also very fine with a faint stress line in the wrist, a divot on the front of the grip, some minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The scope has clear optics. Mechanically excellent. A highly attractive Marlin Ballard No. 10 Schuetzen Junior Rifle.
