Description:

Measuring 36 inches overall, with a 24 1/2 inch blade, showing a jagged hamon and fine grain. The habaki is brass with textured gold accents. The hilt follows the "shin gunto" regulation pattern, with a silver plated tsuba, fuchi and kashira, the latter with a two-symbol oval badge on the rear, gilt menuki, and blue/green cord wrap. The saya is equipped with shin gunto pattern furniture and finished with textured brown paint. Two mekugi are present, with the latter a full 34 inches down from the tip, suggesting a shortened odachi-length blade refitted in military hardware.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall. The blade shows some chipping of the edge and tip, with mild spotting and a very strong hamon. The fittings are fine, with staining of the wrap and flaking of the saya finish. The mekugi are partially covered by the wrap, preventing disassembly for tang inspection.
