This pair of fine Miquelet pistols have part octagon, smoothbore barrels with silver inlaid designs on the octagonal breech sections, "crown/EUD/MAS" maker's marks at the breech ends. The frizzens have a "crown/TOR/NTO" maker's mark recorded as mark 173 in "Spanish Guns and Pistols" by Neal and noted as for Tornto, possibly from Ripoll c. 1780. Belt hooks are fitted on the left sides. The locks, barrel tangs, and furniture have scroll and floral engraving and chasing. The trigger guard bows have silver ovals with busts, and the trigger guard tangs are marked "Z+R" at the tail ends. The pommels also have silver caps, and large silver ovals are inlaid into the wrists. The second pistol of the pair retains a fabric pad pinned behind the lock. The stocks have raised relief carving at the ramrod entry pipes and top of the wrists.

Fine with silver-gray patina on the iron, dark aged patina on the silver, aged patina on the brass, mostly distinct markings and designs, and mild overall wear. Some fo the brass pins are sticking out. The stock retains an old dark finish, has two holes and one pin from the now absent fabric flap, a tiny hairline crack at the tail of the lock, a small piece of martial between the sideplate and left stirrup, crisp carving, and minor marks and scratches. Mechanically fine.

Very good with silver-gray patina on the iron components, dark aged patina on the silver, aged patina on the brass, generally legible markings and patterns, and mild overall wear. The stock retains an old dark finish on the forend section and is more of the usual walnut coloration on the wrist and has some small flakes, a crack in the forend tip/rod channel, distinct carving, and some dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
