Description:

Manufactured by the firm of V. Charles Schilling of Suhl, the Bergmann was developed in the mid 1890s, improved upon by Louis Schmeisser, and was produced in limited numbers. Blade front and notch rear sights, German "crown/crown/U" proofs, Schilling "mountain man" oval logo on the right side of the frame, and a series of numbers on the individual components to denote order of disassembly. Fitted with a straw finished trigger and hammer, niter blue safety, and checkered walnut grips. One sheet metal cartridge clip is included.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 80% of the original blue finish, showing a few areas thinning to an aged brown, bright wear along the high edges, and scattered light handling marks. A few patches of shallow pitting are present on the left side of the frame, the largest located just behind the trigger. The trigger has turned a mixed gray, with 70% of the bright straw color still present on the hammer and 50% of the niter blue on the safety. The grips are very good, with some mild dings and tool marks on the screw. Mechanically very good.
