These derringers were introduced in 1870, manufactured until 1912, and totaled around 48,000 produced. The top of the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and "COLT" in large italic letters and the bottom of the barrel has small British proofs. The caliber marking is on the left of the frame along with a "C" and Rampant Colt. The right side of the frame is retailer inscribed "E.M. REILLY & Co. LONDON." It is fitted with a pair of smooth grips that are each hand numbered "247" on the inside. Includes an earlier produced replacement leatherette wrapped case with a large silver plaque on the lid that is inscribed "Presented to/PERCY H. POUND/ON HIS 21st BIRTHDAY/by the heads of the/various departments/of JOHN POUND & Co./August 11 1891". John Pound & Co. was a luxury luggage retailer in London that is still in operation today.

Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original nickel finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered patches of light pitting. The grips are also very fine with some light chipping/hairline cracks near the edges. Mechanically excellent. The earlier production replacement case is fine with some light handling/storage wear.
