Excellent and Rare Documented Pair of Consecutively Serial Numbered Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolvers Owned by AutoMag Pistol Designer Harry Sanford with Original Black Boxes and Factory Letter

A) Colt Single Action Army Revolver

The included factory letter lists this pair of revolvers as having 4 3/4 inch barrels chambered in .45 caliber with nickel finish, consecutive serial numbers, and stocks not listed when shipped to Buds Gun Shop in Clovis, New Mexico on June 8, 1962. Don Wilkerson's "The Post-War Colt Single-Action Revolver 1955-1975" remarks that only 1,384 revolvers were manufactured in this configuration. Wilkerson's book "Colt Single-Action Revolver Handbook 1955-1975" notes that only 62 consecutive sets were manufactured in this configuration. The revolvers are fitted with blade front and frame notch rear sights and marked with the one line address on top of the barrel, caliber marking on the left, and patent marking ahead of Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame. Both revolvers include their original Colt black boxes, each with a factory "NICKEL FINISH" label. In included paperwork this SAA set is identified as being owned by noted firearms designer Harry Sanford best known as the firearms genius who designed the stainless steel AutoMag pistol chambered in .44 AMP and was, as his son Walter noted, the developer of "a stainless steel pistol and rifle empire that included the firms TDE, AMT, OMC, IAI, and others." The first page of the paperwork is signed "Dad was proud of these! Thanks Walter Sanford." Walter was the son of Harry Sanford. In his own words, Walter explained that this set was part of his father's collection that "had not seen the light of day for about 30 years" and the set had remained in the family until 2013. Note the aforementioned 2011 dated factory letter is addressed to Walter Sanford.

ConditionExcellent, retaining 99% plus original nickel finish with limited handling marks and a faint cylinder drag line. The grips fit beautifully and appear factory fitted. Mechanically excellent. The replacement grip is fine. Box is fine with a couple split lid corners.
