Manufacturing began in 1870 and continued until 1912. This early 20th century assembled pair are both of the Second Type featuring the sloping . Both have the standard italic Colt marking on top of the barrel and small British proofs on the bottom, with the serial numbers marked on the left side of the grip frames. The backstraps of both pistols have been inscribed with a nearly identical Cogswell & Harrison address. The grips on both are hand numbered on the inside of both panels to match their respective guns. Includes a leather wrapped hard case with "FLORENCE ROOKE" marked on the lid and a Cogswell & Harrison label inside the lid, as well as a cleaning rod, key, and oiler.

Fine, retains 30% of the original blue finish and 90% plus of the original nickel finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina, primarily on the barrel. The grips are also very good with a few scattered minor dings and scuffs. The mainspring is weak and loose, but otherwise mechanically fine. The case is very good with some scattered minor handling/storage marks.

Fair, retains half of the dull refinished blue and 75% original nickel finishes with the balance having thinned to either a bright grey patina or attractively aged brass. The grips are fine with some scattered minor dings and light wear. Mechanically excellent.
