Description:

Starr Arms Co. manufactured approximately 20,601 of these carbines during the Civil War. Features standard blade front and two-leaf rear sights, sling ring mounted on the left of the receiver, inspection initials "F.D.L" on the left of the breech and on top of the stock ahead of the buttplate tang, and faint remnants of a boxed script inspection cartouche stamped on the left wrist of the stock. "12832" marked on the left of the breech block and underneath the barrel. Large initials "L.H" period carved in the left of the buttstock.

Rating Definition:

Very good, exhibiting mostly smooth silver gray patina with areas of smooth brown patina, scattered light pitting, strong traces of original blue finish concentrated on and around the rear sight. Wood is also very good as re-oiled, with scattered dents and scratches, some minor chips, and carving as mentioned above. Mechanically excellent.
