Manufactured about 1940-1945, this is one of a limited number of Walther P.38 pistols meant for the commercial market instead of military contract production. Known destinations for these pistols include civilian purchase, police issue, and a small amount of export to friendly and neutral nations. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the Walther banner, two-line address and caliber markings, and "Mod P.38" on the left side, and the serial number on top (concealed by the barrel with the breech closed). Further matching numbers are present on the barrel, locking block and frame, with "eagle/N" proofs in appropriate locations. The underside of the locking block is stamped "K", and a few areas of rough machining are visible at the toe of the front strap . Fitted with a pair of ribbed plastic grips and a blued steel magazine marked "P.38v" on the left side. Includes an unmarked brown leather flap holster and an extra "jvd" marked magazine.
