This rifle was built by Griffin & Howe on an unmarked square bridge magnum Mauser action. Blued barrel with hooded ramped beaded blade front sight , front sling stud, "No. 2269 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK, N.Y." marked on the top of the barrel, and rear quarter rib with two folding leaves (100 and 200 yards) with gold inlaid center lines. The action features a Griffin & Howe scope mount holding a Lyman All-American 2 1/2x scope , a jeweled bolt body, and knurled knob. The bottom metal has been engraved in the style of J. Fuggar with handsome scroll designs. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered Schnabel tip pistol grip stock with casehardened reinforcing bolt, engraved trapdoor grip cap, raised cheek piece, oval gold plaque with initials, and Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad.
Excellent, retaining 99% Griffin & Howe applied blue with a few tiny spots of speckling and minor handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few tiny dings and scratches and sharp checkering. The scope optics are clear. Mechanically excellent.
